pickling lime

Misc.
I found the answer, just not sure how stong to mix the lime water for fruit. I did see on the recipes for watermelon rind pickles to use 1T. lime to 1 quart water.
Pickling lime:
Lime is calcium hydroxide and may be referred to in pickling recipes as slaked lime, hydrated lime or lime hydrate. Be sure to use lime as a soak solution only and to rinse product in several changes of water before proceding with recipe. Do not use lime purchased fom lumber supply stores for food use. Lime is found in most grocery stores with pickling supplies.

I will go see if I can buy a box and see if they include any instructions for making the lime water.I just know not to inhale any dust. Maybe I will get my husband to do it for me.
