re: Espresso Powder

Espresso powder is made by brewing espresso, then freeze drying it. So no, you can't make it.

I use Medaglia d'Oro brand, which is available in most groceries *here* (Seattle area). You may also be able to sub freshly brewed espresso (for part of the liquid in the recipe), or use a larger amount of regualar instant coffee.
