re: Nabisco Heydays

Misc.
For Heyday lovers who want to replicate those yummy, candy-bar-like cookies, you'll be pleased to learn that you can buy the wafer part in Bosnian grocery stores. The brand I bought was Oblatne. They are plain -- no fillings -- and come in packages of large sheets. Wafer cookies are popular in Europe (much better than the kind here) and they also use the plain wafers to make different recipes. Getting the wafers to make a home version of Heydays was the hard part; the rest is easy -- dark chocolate, caramel and peanuts. Yum!!!!! (BTW, I called Nabisco to ask why they discontinued Heydays and they gave no reason. You'd think something so good would be profitable!) -- C
