re: Paula Deen's Tunnel of Fudge Cake - no tunnel

Appetizers and Snacks
My grandmother used to make a tunnel of fudge cake & her recipe is the one that calls for the boxed frosting (no longer available). I was thrilled to find Paula's recipe substituting the canned icing & couldn't wait to try it out & suprise the family w/ my Gran's creation. I was disappointed when we cut into the cake & it was solid all the way through, there was no "tunnel of fudge". I consider myself a good cook & I followed this recipe to the "T" because my family is desperate for a "taste of the past". The cake itself was very good & moist, it made a wonderful chocolate pound cake; but chocolate pound cake wasn't what I was looking for. Any suggestions? I like scratch recipes as I pride myself on being the "expert baker" in our family. lol
