re: Splenda Divinity - Recipe didn't work

I tried the Splenda Divinity Recipe and it was a total FAIL!!!

First off, you cannot cook the sugars to 260 degrees or the hard ball stage because it just dries up in the pan.

Secondly, I beat what I could get out of the pan with the egg white/vanilla mixture for at least 10 min. and it would not harden enough to form a divinity peak or anything resembling it.

Lastly, do not add nuts!!! I decided after the 10 min. that I would try to drop the soft divinity anyway onto the waxed paper and so i added 1/4 c. of pecans and the mixture went TOTALLY LIQUID.

So much for cooking candy with Splenda!. As a last resort I poured the liquid onto a cookie sheet and am presently baking at 325 in hopes it might taste like flattened meringue cookies lol....I'll let you know if I have any success...but have a feeling I'm going to toss everything out.

Please don't waste your time with this recipe...no wonder Splenda doesn't have a recipe for divinity on its site.
