RE: Tiramisu Quest

The closest Carrabba's to me is Henderson, Nevada. Was trying to get there last month, but bad weather near Las Vegas kept us from flying over. My sole purpose for the trip was to go to Carrabba's and compare their restaurant and offering with Macaroni's.

Went to Macaroni's last week (for the Tiramisu, of course) and questioned our waitress about the Tiramisu. She said theirs came from The Corner Bakery. The Corner Bakery (a franchise bakery now cropping up on shopping malls bringing the small neighborhood bakery concept of fresh baked goods e.g. breads, pastries back to the public) is owned by the restaurant group, Brinker International. Brinker also owns other well known restaurants such as Chili's, Maggiano's Little Italy, On The Border, and others. Also found out The Corner Bakery uses Chef Nancy Silverton's original recipes. Nancy is the owner/baker of the famed La Brea Bakery, author of cookbooks, as well as co-owner/pastry chef of Campanile Restaurant. Knowing this testifies to the quality of the Tiramisu. The L.A. Times claims she is the best pastry chef in the country! She does have a pastry cookbook, but I searched the index and didn't see a Tiramisu recipe.

Maggiano's Little Italy also offers a homemade Tiramisu on their menu, but I have yet to confirm whether The Corner Bakery is supplying them too. My closest Maggiano's is approx. 50 miles away.
