Recipe: Substitutes for Molasses

Tips and Tricks - Cooking
Hi Elly,

You can substitute honey or light or dark corn syrup for the molasses but you won't have that distinctive molasses flavor. In recipes calling for just a teaspoon to two you may not notice too much of a difference. In recipes such as gingerbread you would taste the difference.

Other options:

Molasses Crystals

Molasses Powder

Or find a neighbor that always has molasses on hand and borrow some when you need it :-)

I hope that's a help!
