Recipe(tried): Bakers Bakery Date and Nut Cake - Tips

Hey Marybeth,
I came up with this recipe a number of years ago because my wife instead on this cake for her birthday and I now live in Dallas.
Initially, because the frosting was so white, I assumed there had to be shortening rather than butter.
Since then I've been told that one of the daughters of the original owner said it was all butter and the whiteness came from long beating.
I make it at least once a year, and bought a cake last time I was in Cleveland. One if the daughters still sells the cake at a bakery in Berea.
The recipe comes very close to matching the original for looks and taste.
But know that it was just me trying to figure it out. I don't have an in with the family to get the real recipe.
