Recipe(tried): Alternative to marzipan

Misc.
My mother used to make sweeties at Christmas from pure icing sugar worked into creamed, softened cream cheese (Philadelphia brand)until the mixture was quite firm. Say 4 oz of cream cheese with two cups of icing sugar worked in. Then a few drops of almond flavouring and there was a marzipan style sweet. Hope that helps.
