Recipe: Butternut Balls, Black Walnut Balls, Nut Balls, Nut Gems, Snowballs, Russian Tea Cakes (repost)
Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, BarsBUTTERNUT BALLS
2 lbs butter or margarine
2 cups confectioner's sugar (plus more for rolling)
2 tsp vanilla
7 cups flour
2 cups ground up walnuts
Soften but do not melt butter. Mix butter, confectioner's sugar and vanilla. Beat till fluffy and light. Add flour and nuts all at one time.(NEVER USE A MIXER ON THIS PART) Chill the dough.
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Roll into walnut size balls and bake for 20 minutes, do not brown. Roll into powdered sugar as soon as you take out of oven. When they are completely cold roll them in confectioner's sugar again.
Makes 16 dozen
