This recipe has cottage cheese turnovers. You can sub whatever filling you'd like for the apple.
Apple Turnovers
1 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1 (12 oz) pkg cottage cheese
2 cups flour
6 fresh apples, pared and cored
sugar to taste
cinnamon or nutmeg (opt)
powdered sugar
Mix first 4 ingredients until mixture leaves the side of the bowl; chill for about 30 minutes. Roll out on board and cut into 6 aquares.
Into each square place apples, sugar and spices; fold diagonally and seal the edge with water. Place on greased baking sheet.
Bake 30 minutes in 450 degree oven. Before turnovers are cool, spread with a mixture of powdered suagr and water or milk.
