APPLESAUCE OR PINEAPPLE CRUSH CAKE
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening or margarine
1 egg
3 cups flour
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp soda
2 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
1 1/2 cup hot applesauce or crushed pineapple
OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS:
1 cup chopped candied fruits
1 cup chopped candied cherries
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a tube pan or 2 loaf pans.
Cream sugar, shortening and egg until creamy.
Sift together dry ingredients and add all at once with hot applesauce. Blend well.
Stir in your choice of optional ingredients. Pour into prepared pan(s).
Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until cake tests done.
