Recipe: Banana Jewel Cake (13x9-inch, using cake mix, orange juice and cranberries)

1 (2-layer size) box vanilla flavored or white cake mix
1 cup water
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons grated orange peel
1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
3 bananas, sliced
Prepare cake mix as directed, except add only 1 cup of the water called for on the package. Pour batter into a greased (13x9-inch) baking pan; set aside.
Heat orange juice, sugar, and grated peel in medium saucepan, until hot, and stir to dissolve. Add cranberries and simmer until skins burst. Add bananas. Continue cooking for one minute. Remove from heat.
Evenly spoon cranberry banana mixture over cake. Do not stir.
Bake at 350 degrees F, 35-40 minutes or until lightly browned.
