Recipe: Bollos

Misc.

Hi Mere;
I found this recipe on the internet, it comes from Key West.
Bollos
1 lb. black eye peas
1 tsp. salt
3 cloves of garlic
2 small bird hot peppers
Note: "Bird Peppers" are known as such to Key Westers. They are fresh hot peppers which are tiny bright red spikes about half an inch long.Soak overnight and in the morning slip the skins from the peas, then rinse and drain. Next grind the peas, peppers and garlic into a fine paste. Add the salt and beat until it is the consistency of a cake batter or creamy. If necessary, add a few drops of water to the mix. Then drop from a dessert spoon into deep hot fat and fry until brown. These are used as a vegetable with the meal, or as an appetizer.
