These were my favorite cookies growing up!
BROWN SUGAR DROP COOKIES
1 T. vinegar
1 c. evaporated milk (do not substitute)
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Add vinegar to milk and stir, then set aside. Beat butter until creamy, then add brown sugar and beat until well mixed and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add milk and vinegar mixture. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir in chopped nuts. Drop rounded teaspoons of dough on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned and barely firm to the touch. When cool, spread with browned butter frosting. Makes about 4 dozen.
FROSTING:
Melt 1/2 c. melted butter in small saucepan over low heat. Add 1/2 c. brown sugar and stir until mixture is bubbly. Remove from heat and add 2 c. pwedered sugar and 2 to 4 T. evaporated milk until frosting is of spreading consistency.
