Recipe(tried): Buffet menu suggestions for Graduation Open House Party - Hello Grad Mom, I'm planning too!!!
Holidays, CelebrationsI am having a party for my son May 28th. Congratulations to you too on this graduation celebration. I will share ideas and the menu.
The menu was selected by my son who offered up some favorite things. I read online that the more the party focus becomes "their party" the less likely parents will end up screaming "you don't appreciate all my efforts!"
I am dividing my room into areas, food inside and cold drinks outside:
THE HOT TABLE:
The hot table will have crockpots of meatballs, one large pan of ravioli, and I have arranged for our local pizza place to deliver pizzas 15 minutes before the party begins. They are delivering as needed throughout the night.
THE COLD TABLE:
I am having a cold table that will have a four foot long sub, vegetable trays, Chips and dips, small rolls and cold fillings like egg salad, chicken salad, ham salad from the deli.
COFFEE BUFFET:
Coffee buffet on an old antique dresser in the corner with creamers, biscotti, cookies and coffee.
THE GRAD CAKE AND PUNCH:
Rainbow flavored sherbert (raspberry, lime and orange or pineapple) plus 1 and a half bottles of chilled gingerale. It is a beautiful punch and delicious.
OUTSIDE:
Outside we will have three plastic clothes bins (the kind you store winter clothes in) filled with ice and sodas on a table near the entrance to the house. My son also selected his favorite soft drinks.
A local band he knows gave us a special rate for entertainment. I read that the key to a good party like this is to keep the music flowing, keep the food looking fresh, hot and cool and plan B is to have a Plan B if it rains - the carport and tents!
Best of luck.
