Recipe: Chips Ahoy Clone Recipe

Misc.
Not sure if these are crisp or not, but it is supposed to be like a Chips Ahoy Cookie (which I know that they are crisp). I personally like CHEWY cookies, but have no luck with finding a good recipe for those. Mine too turn out REALLY cakelike, and I don't like that. Let us know how they turn out.

Chips Ahoy Clone:

4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. soda (level)
2 tsp. salt (level)
1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups shortening
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 large egg white
2-4 Tbsp. warm water
12 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips

Have all ingredients at room temperature. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour and soda. Set aside. Mix both sugars and shortening until blended. Add vanilla, salt and egg white. Beat til creamy. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time, adding a Tbsp. of water as needed to mix the flour in (DO NOT exceed 4 Tbsp.). Mix in chocolate chips. Roll into 2 inch balls and press in palms to make flat. Bake 12-15 minutes til golden brown.

I hope this helps.
