Recipe: 6 Sandwich recipes using Swanson canned chicken (1970's)

SANDWICH RECIPES USING SWANSON CANNED CHICKEN



DUTCH TREAT
Makes 3 sandwiches

1 (6 ounce) can Swanson Boned Chicken or Turkey, cut up
1/2 cup chopped cabbage
1/4 cup corn relish
3 frankfurter buns, slit and toasted
Canned French fried onions, toasted

Combine chicken, cabbage, and relish. Spoon into buns. Garnish with onions.

CARIBBEAN CRUNCHER
Makes 4 sandwiches

1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1 (6 ounce) can Swanson Boned Chicken or Turkey, cut up
1/2 cup drained pineapple tidbits
1/3 cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped peanuts
Lettuce
6 slices toasted white bread

Blend cream cheese, mayonnaise, and curry powder. Add chicken, pineapple, celery, and peanuts; toss lightly. Arrange lettuce on 4 slices toast; top with chicken mixture and remaining toast.

HARVEST FEAST
Makes 2 open-face sandwiches

1 (6 ounce) can Swanson Boned Chicken or Turkey, cut up
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon prepared horseradish
2 slices toasted rye bread
4 spiced apple rings
1/4 cup shredded mild Cheddar cheese

Combine chicken, mayonnaise, and horseradish. Spread on toast. Top with apple rings-; sprinkle with cheese. Broil 4-inches from heat for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

INTERNATIONAL CLUB
Makes 4 open-face sandwiches

1 (6 ounce) can Swanson Boned Chicken or Turkey, cut up
1 cup lettuce torn in bite-size pieces
2 tablespoons bottled Russian dressing
2 hamburger buns, split and toasted
4 thick slices tomato
8 slices bacon, cooked and drained

Combine chicken, lettuce, and dressing. Spoon onto buns. Top with tomato. Garnish with bacon.

SANDWICH AU NATURAL
Makes 3 sandwiches

1 can Swanson Boned Chicken or Turkey, cut up
1/4 cup thinly sliced carrots
1/4 cup chopped radishes
1/4 cup raisins
2 tablespoons toasted sunflower seeds
3 tablespoons yogurt
1 teaspoon dried mint leaves, crushed
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
Romaine lettuce
6 slices cracked wheat bread

Combine all ingredients except lettuce and bread. Arrange lettuce on 3 slices bread; top with chicken mixture and remaining bread.

CHICK-HAM DILLIES
Makes 6 small sandwiches

1 can Swanson Boned Chicken or Turkey, cut up
1/3 cup chopped cucumber
1 teaspoon bottled French dressing
1/8 teaspoon dried dill leaves, crushed
Spinach leaves
3 slices (3 ounces) boiled ham, cut in quarters
6 thin slices red onion
6 dinner rolls, split

Combine chicken, cucumber, dressing, and dill. Arrange spinach, ham, chicken mixture, and onion on rolls.
