Recipe: Chocolate Bread Pudding

CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING

2 cups milk
6 slices bread, cubed
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Scald milk. Remove from heat; add bread cubes and beat until quite smooth.

Add sugar, cocoa, and egg yolks. Beat until well blended.

Add butter and vanilla. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour into n 8-inch square baking dish; set dish in a pan with about an inch of hot water.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes, or until firm.

Top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries and serve warm or cold.
