Recipe: Chocolate Oatmeal (Quaker Oats, 1920's)
Breakfast and BrunchCHOCOLATE OATMEAL
2 cups uncooked Quick Quaker Oats (not instant)
4 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
4 Tablespoons white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Bring water to a boil. Add cocoa powder and sugar mixed to a paste while boiling water, then slowly stir in the oats. Cook 3 to 5 minutes. Add vanilla.
Serve hot or cold with cream. Wonderful chilled, molded and served in slices.
