Recipe: Cottage Pudding for Rita

Desserts - Puddings, Gelatin
Dear Rita,

Here is the Cottage Pudding Recipe from the 1950 Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook:

Sift together into bowl:
1 3/4 cups sifted Gold Medal Flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Add:
1/4 cup soft shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Beat with rotary beater or spoon until smooth. Pour into greased and floured 9" sq. pan. Bake. Cut into 3" squares. Serve warm with hot Vanilla, Lemon, Nutmeg or Chocolate Sauce.

Perhaps whoever made this for you simply used cherry pie filling as the sauce. It sounds like it would work beautifully!

Have a great day,

Marilyn
