Recipe: Crush Punch
BeveragesCRUSH PUNCH
5 pkgs. (3 oz each) orange Jello
5 quarts water (1 quart hot)
5 cups sugar
1 (12 oz) or 2 (6 oz) cans frozen lemonade
1 (46 oz.) can pineapple-grapefruit juice
1 (20 oz.) can pineapple, crushed
Dissolve Jello in hot water. Add sugar and mix well. Stir in frozen lemonade. Add pineapple-grapefruit juice and crushed pineapple.
Put in 1/2 gallon milk cartons and freeze.
Makes 2 gallons
TO PREPARE THE PUNCH:
Remove from freezer 1 1/2 to 2 hours before serving. Pull carton off and put in punch bowl. Break with fork.
To each carton of crush, pour 1 1/2 to 2 liters of 7-Up or similar soda.
Hi Jill,
I haven't tried this recipe but I think the Jello and sugar should give it that Orange Crush taste. I would substitute no pulp orange juice for the pineapple-grapefruit juice. I don't know about using the crushed pineapple, I think I would leave it out - it may give a pulpy texture to or floaters in the punch that some may not like. You can substitute frozen orange juice concentrate for some or all of the lemonade, but taste before freezing and gradually add some lemon juice or Real Lemon if it is too sweet. Remember that the 7-Up added later will dilute it and add a more sweetness.
