EASY NO-YEAST WHEAT BREAD

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups white flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup honey
1/3 cup cane syrup (Golden Syrup)*
1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp. vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, and grease a loaf pan with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Stir to combine thoroughly. Make a well in the center of dry ingredients.

In a small bowl, whisk the buttermilk, honey, syrup and oil. Pour the wet ingredients into the well and stir just enough to combine and a sticky dough forms.

Turn into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour. Remove from pan to cool.

*Equal parts honey and corn syrup may be substituted for the cane syrup.
