Recipe(tried): Fried Cornbread for Virginia...Ohio

Virginia. This is my recipe for fried cornbread.

1 cup meal (self-rising)
1/4 cup flour (all-purpose)
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk, or enough to mix well, but not to thin.

Heat oil (about 1/2 cup) to begin with.
As you fry, you may have to add more oil, as the bread absorbes a lot of oil.
Drop by large spoonfulls. Brown on both sides.
Remove and place on paper towels to drain. This will make patties. I sometimes fry mine as if I was making pancakes...this will give you larger pieces of bread.
