Recipe(tried): Halloween Dip/Veggie Idea

Misc.

One year for my daughter's party, I made a skeleton out of veggies and dip. The idea is to use a small hollowed out pumpkin for the "skull"... this holds the dip. I used red cabage leaves, shredded, for the hair, placed around the skull, and fluffed up to resemble hair. I used cuke slices (halved, standing on halved-cut edge for the neck bones, and spinal vertabrae. Ribs and shoulder bones were made from celery stalks (also used these for arm bones and leg bones). The joints were either cauliflower chunks or broccoli (I used both). Fingers and toes were baby carrots with olives for knuckles. The pelvis was just a jumble of cut up vegies, fashioned into the correct shape. I used cherry tomato for the nose (sat on top of the dip in the skull) and used green olive slices for the eyes, placed in the appropriate places. The mouth was simply some green onion ... a long green strip for each lip, and small slices of the white for the teeth. I had SO MUCH FUN making it. Use your imagination and you can come up with lots of variations. For the surface to build on, I duct taped several cardboard pieces together and covered the whole thing with foil. I put it on my dining room table as a runner-type centerpiece. If you want to transport it, you could assemble it at home, so you know how you want it to go together... then you could either figure out how to take it as is, or take it apart and reassemble it at the site.

Let me know if you deside to do this... I would love to see how it works for you and how you made it personalized!
