Hot Chili Con Carne
My best friend found this recipe many years ago in the Los Angeles Times. Although, it is very easy and requires little preparation, it tastes quite authentic. I once took this dish to a potluck and a good friend of ours of Latino descent exclaimed, "Someone here knows how to make chili!" to his wife; and insisted she find out who made it and get the recipe. I think that is the best recommendation for this recipe.

1 lb. browned, crumbled ground beef (I season with plenty of garlic powder, and a little salt and pepper; while browning)
1 can (30 oz) chili beans (I use Hunt's), including liquid
1 can (15oz) tomato sauce
1 can (4oz) chopped green chilies (I use Ortega brand)
2 tablespoons chili powder (this is a little hot for me I use 1 tablespoon)
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. red pepper (cayenne pepper)

Add all ingredients to crockpot. Stir well. Cook on high setting 4-5 hours or until desired consistency. Stir occasionally.

Notes: I usually cook for at least 6 hours. Also, I now use ground turkey instead of ground beef .you cannot tell the difference.
