HUSH PUPPIES
3/4 cup self rising flour
3/4 cup corn meal
1/8 cup sugar
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg
1 can beer
vegetable oil (for frying)
Mix flour, corn meal, sugar, and cheese. Add egg and enough beer to make a light paste. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
Heat oil for frying to 375 degrees F.
Dro batter by spoonfuls into hot oil and cook until golden. Keep your spoon in water between dropping in the puppies. Drain on paper towel.
You can add chopped peppers or anything you like also.
