Recipe(tried): I cook zipper cream peas like this......
MenusI cook my zipper cream peas the way that I cook any fresh peas. I put two slices of bacon in a large pot and let it cook slowly. The grease will render from the bacon. When the bacon is done, put the peas, salt, and just a pinch of sugar into the pot. Stir the mixture until the salt, sugar, and bacon grease are mixed. Add enough water to cover the peas and cook until the peas are done--about 30-35 minutes. You may need to add water to the peas occasionally. Cook on medium high heat.
