GINNY:
Good afternoon to you. This copy of Love's BBQ beans is not easy to get. They went out of bizzz-nizzz about 25 years ago in So. Calif. It was a very popular eatery for this type of food at one time. I remember one cafe that was located on Hollywood Blvd. in the 1960's I lived in Hollywood & also the los Aneles area at that time. I never went in to taste any of their food however.
Anyway I hope it will satisfy your appetite.
LOVE'S FAMOUS BBQ BEANS
5 pounds canned pork & beans
2 medium chopped green peppers
1 pound brown sugar
1 (14 oz) bottle ketchup
8 slices bacon, uncooked
liquid smoke (to taste)
Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees F.
Combine all of the ingredients in a large baking pan. (An aluminum throw away pan works well). Top with the bacon slices.
BAKE, for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Will serve up to 20 people.
Ginny this recipe may be more than you need, however, just halve it it will stay in the refridge for easy 10, days I am sure 2 or 3 people will go thru it easily in that amount of time.
Ginny, my only problem here is this, as you know, canned pork/beans come in 2 varieties, with tomatoes & the Boston type with brown sugar. I do not know which is better for you. You must decide for yourself.
Good luck & have a nice day young lady.
