Recipe(tried): Mckenzie's Buttermilk Drops - a little help

Unfortunately I don't have a specific recipe to share. But I've been looking for the same recipe for years, and the closest I've found is the information that Buttermilk Drops were actually yellow cake! They weren't donuts at all. Yellow cake, buttermilk sugar glaze.
