MEATBALLS AND MACARONI
1 cup bread crumbs
2 cups water, divided use
1/4 teaspoon each allspice, salt and pepper
1 lb. ground round steak
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon oil
flour (as needed)
1 (6 oz.) can Contadina Tomato Paste
2 tablespoons oil or butter
1 teaspoon each salt, pepper and chopped onion
1 (6 oz.) package of macaroni
grated cheese (for serving)
Soak bread crumbs in 1/2 cup water. Add with allspice, salt and pepper to ground round steak; set aside.
Brown finely chopped onion in 1 tablespoon oil. Add to meat mixture and mold into balls. Dip in flour and brown.
Add tomato paste, the remaining 1 1/2 cups water, 2 tablespoons oil or butter, 1 teaspoon each salt, pepper and chopped onion. Cover tightly and simmer 1 hour on low heat.
Cook a macaroni in salted water until tender; drain.
Add sauce to macaroni. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
