Recipe: Melody's Lentil Spaghetti Sauce

MELODY'S LENTIL SPAGHETTI SAUCE

"The lentils have the texture and taste of ground meat."

1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (15 oz.) can Hunt's Tomato Sauce
1 cup water
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup dried lentils, rinsed
1 teaspoon each basil and sugar
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon each thyme, salt and hot pepper sauce
Hot cooked pasta (for serving)

In saucepan, saute onions, carrots, garlic in oil until onions are tender,

Add remaining ingredients, except pasta; simmer 1 hour.

Serve over hot, cooked pasta.
