This is adapted from Cooking Light, the May 1998 issue. It calls for vanilla lowfat yogurt, but I can never wait the hour it takes to freeze the first part of it. So I add frozen yogurt instead. Either way, it's very good.
Yield: 2 servings (serving size: 1 cup)

1 cup fat-free milk
2/3 cup sliced ripe banana
2 tablespoons sugar (some can be omitted if using frozen yogurt)
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
1/4 cup vanilla low-fat yogurt or frozen yogurt
Banana slices (optional)

Place first 4 ingredients in a blender; process until smooth. Place the blender container in the freezer; freeze 1 hour or until slightly frozen. Loosen frozen mixture from the sides of blender container; add yogurt. Process until smooth, and garnish with sliced bananas, if desired. Serve immediately.

*NOTE: For a chocolate-flavored shake, use reduced-fat chocolate milk instead of the plain fat-free milk, and reduce the sugar to 1 tablespoon.
