Hilda, this recipe has been in the family for generations and always turns out great. I have used this recipe for making peach, strawberry, and cherry cobblers. I added flavoring such as vanilla and cinnamon to the peach and vanilla to the cherry cobbler (all to taste).
OLD FASHION FRUIT COBBLER
Sift together:
1 cup self rising flour
1 cup white sugar
Slowly add:
1 cup milk
Stir until no lumps remain. At this point you can add the vanilla and/cinnamon.
In regular sheet cake pan, melt:
1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter
Pour in canned fruit with juice and if desired sprinkle with cinnamon.
Slowly pour batter mixture over fruit.
Bake at 350 degrees until done. Sprinkle with sugar if desired.
Hope this helps. pat
