1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon orange rind
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 egg, unbeaten
2tablespoons milk
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1. Blend together the butter, salt, rind and 1 cup of the sugar.
2. Beat in egg and milk. Sift t ogether flour, baking powder and soda and mix with egg/milk mixture.
3. Wrap dough and chill for about 1 hour; form into small balls about the size of walnuts. Roll in mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and nutmeg. Place on lightly greased baking sheet, about 3 to 4 inches apart; press down each ball with bottom of glass dipped into remaining sugar/nutmeg mixture. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 400 degree oven. Makes about 36 cookies. Enjoy
