Recipe: Pineapple-Oatmeal Cookies (using cinnamon, nutmeg and walnuts, 1960's)

PINEAPPLE-OATMEAL COOKIES


1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple
1 1/2 cups rolled oats, uncooked
1 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash ground nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Cream butter; add sugars and beat until light.

Add egg and beat well.

Add pineapple, oats, sifted dry ingredients and nuts; mix well.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees F) about 15 minutes.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies
