Recipe: Pineapple Sweet and Sour Pork (1960's)

PINEAPPLE SWEET AND SOUR PORK


1 pound lean pork, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
2 tablespoon vegetable oil
Salt and pepper
1 cup beef broth
1 large green bell pepper, slivered
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 (16 to 18 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup pineapple syrup
1/4 cup vinegar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoon soy sauce
Hot cooked rice (for serving)

Brown pork in hot oll. Season.

Add broth, cover and simmer 30 minutes.

Add vegetables and pineapple to the pan.

Combine sugar, pineapple syrup, vinegar, cornstarch and soy sauce and add to pork mixture in pan. Cook 10 minutes; stir often.

Serve on rice.

Makes 4 servings
