Recipe: Pizza Presto Pizza Sauce (using canned tomatoes)
Pizza/FocacciaPIZZA PRESTO PIZZA SAUCE
2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 shallots or 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
1 tbs. sugar
1/2 tbsp. dried oregano, crumbled
1/2 tbsp. dried basil, crumbled
3/4 tsp. salt
2 bay leaves
In medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and shallots or onion and saute until transparent, 3-5 minutes.
Stir in remaining ingredients, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, until thick, about 30 minutes.
Makes about 2 cups
