Recipe(tried): Popcorn Balls from Betty Crocker Cookbook, 1960

Appetizers and Snacks
This is a great popcorn ball recipe. It was my kids favorite when they were growing up.

POPCORN BALLS

Have ready:
7 cups of popcorn, kix, cheerios, or trix

Mix in a saucepan:
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine

Cook to 250 degrees F or until a few drops form a hard ball when dropped into cold water.

Remove from heat. Stir in:
1 tsp vanilla
Food color, if desired

Pour in a thin stream over the popped corn or other cereal, stirring constantly to mix well. Shape, with buttered hands, into balls or any other shape desired.

Amount: 12-15 large balls
