Recipe: Pound Cake with Caramel Cake Icing and Good and Easy Pound Cake (13x9-inch pan)

1 2/3 cups sugar
2 sticks (1 cup) butter
5 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Caramel Cake Icing (recipe follows)
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.
Cream sugar and butter together. Add eggs, one at a time, alternating with flour. Add vanilla. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake at 325 degrees F for about 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. (This cake may be baked in a tube pan for 1 hour).
CARAMEL CAKE ICING:
1 1/2 boxes light brown sugar (1 1/2 lbs)
2 sticks (1 cup) butter or margarine
3/4 cup Carnation evaporated milk
Combine sugar and butter in double boiler; dissolve and stir well. Add milk and stir. Let come to a boil; boil for 2 minutes. Test for soft ball stage in cold water. Beat until thick. Cool until spreading consistency. Spread on cake.
GOOD AND EASY POUND CAKE

3/4 cup milk
6 eggs
3 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
Put all ingredients in one bowl. Mix thoroughly with hand mixer. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake for about 30 minutes in a 350 degree F oven or until cake tests done.
