Recipe: Quantity Cooking Tips for Tacos - count per pound of ground beef
Main Dishes - Beef and Other MeatsTeresa, the packet of Old El Paso taco seasoning sitting in my pantry says that one pound of ground beef prepared with the seasoning and a little water will make 12 tacos. I can tell you from experience that when I make a soft taco dinner for my family of 8, I brown two pounds of ground beef and don't usually have much left over, but we have four teenagers. I would plan for at least two tacos per kid at your VBS, in addition to the nachos. BTW, you can brown and season the beef at least a couple days in advance. It freezes well and reheats well in the microwave or on the stove.
