Recipe(tried): Rolled Sugar Cookies for Lori IL

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
This one always works great. They have an odd mixing sequence.I usually use 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla, leave out the almond extract and don't bother with the floured cloth, just liberally flour my work surface and the top of the dough, I then use a pastry-type brush to remove excess flour from the top of the dough before cutting and brush excess flour from the bottom of the cookies after cutting.(The dough is that workable, you can hold the cookie up and brush the bottom!) I make a regular powdered sugar, butter, vanilla and evaporated milk frosting. These go very quickly, I have made them for gift exchanges and it always causes a near riot over who gets them!

ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES

3 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Sift dry ingredients together; work in butter. Add remaining ingredients, blending thoroughly. Chill dough for 20 minutes. Roll dough on floured cloth and cut with cookie cutter. Bake in preheated 375 oven 8-10 minutes.
