Hi Sharry! Hope this is what you're looking for. I have been making this for about 25 years and they are worth the effort.
Good Luck!!!
Runza
Dough:
1/4 Cup Water
1/2 cup solid crisco
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon salt
Heat until sugar is disolved, stirring well.
ADD:
2 Cups cold water
2 eggs, well beaten
2 packages dry yeast
Moisten the dry yeast and cover for about 15 min.
ADD:
6 cups all purpose flour
Stir well. Set in warm place to rise until double in bulk.
While this is rising the first time, make the filling.
Filling:
1 lb. ground beef
1 small head of cabbage, shredded
1 small onion, diced
3 Tablespoons vinegar
2 Tablespoons sugar
salt & pepper to taste
Brown ground beef until the pink is gone. Add rest of ingredients and simmer until cabbage is done. You may need to add a little bit of water as it simmers. Let cool.
Punch dough down and roll out on floured surface. Cut into rounds (I use a small saucer) Place meat filling in center and seal edges with a fork. Place on a greased cookie sheet and let rise for 2 hours. Bake for 20 minutes in a 400 degree oven. Brush tops with melted butter.
Good Luck!!!
