Recipe: Dumplings for Boiled Beef (German)

DUMPLINGS FOR BOILED BEEF

2 cups flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 egg, beaten
3 tbsp. melted shortening
1/4 cup milk
Beef stock

Combine dry ingredients and add shortening, egg and enough milk to make moist batter.

Drop by spoon into boiling beef stock. Cover and boil for 15 minutes or more until light and fluffy.
