Recipe(tried): solution to runny plum jam

Preserving - Jams, Jellies
Susan,

Through many years of fooling with recipes (as I don't like to add the sugar they call for) I have found out that if I add a extra box of sure jell it sets. When making a double batch for instance it calls for 6 1/2 cups of fruit and I put that in but when it calls for 8 cups of sugar I only use 3 1/2 to 4. So the way I have made it set is to use two boxes of the sure jell. Hope this helps.
