Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars

Carol, here is a recipe for Sour-Cream Chocolate Cookies from "The Big Chocolate
Cookbook," by Gertrude Parke

Sour-Cream Chocolate Cookies

4 ounces chocolate (squares, melted and cooled, or envelopes)
1 cup butter
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup broken walnut meats

Butter a cooky sheet

Cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add the chocolate.

Mix the sour cream and baking soda.

Sift the flour, salt and baking powder together, and beat in alternately with the sour cream. Add the vanilla and stir in the nut meats. Drop from a teaspoon onto the prepared cooky sheet, allowing room to spread.

Bake in a 375 Degree F. oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Makes 5 to 6 dozen cookies.
