Recipe: Toll House Marble Squares

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
TOLL HOUSE MARBLE SQUARES

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup 2 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 (6 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 13x9x2-inches baking pan.

Mix butter, sugars and vanilla thoroughly. Beat in egg. Blend in flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix in walnuts. Spread in prepared pan.

Sprinkle chocolate chops over top of dough. Place in oven 1 minute. Remove from oven and run knife through dough to marbleize.

Return to oven and bake 12 to 14 minutes. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares.

Makes 2 dozen
