Recipe(tried): Transylvania Cabbage (sauerkraut dish)

This is a great recipe for those of you who love sauerkraut.

Translyvania Cabbage

2 lbs sauerkraut
1 pt sour cream
1 cup uncooked rice
1 lb lean pork sausage
2 bunches green onions
1 1/2 tblsp real bacon bits
1 clove garlic chopped fine (optional)
1 lb smoked pork sausage (kilbasa)
1 bunch parsley chopped

Drain sauerkraut and set a side.
Cook until crumbly the 1 lb of sausage add the onions and cook until clear. Drain and set aside.
Cut the kilbasa sausage into 1" rings and brown with the bacon bits and parsley and set aside
Cook the rice as directed and drain and set aside.

In a 3 qt casserole dish layer half of the drained sauerkraut. Next layer the crumbled sausage and onion mixture.
Top with half of the sour cream, next layer the cooked rice, top with the Kilbasa sausage mixture. Layer the rest
of the sauerkraut. Spread the remained of the sour cream over the top. And sprinkle liberally with paprika.

Bake at 325 for 1 1/2 hrs. This is really a terrific dish!

* to spead the sour cream place small dots of it relatively close then use the back of a tablespoon to smooth it out.*
