ISO: Cabernet reduction Sauce

I recently enjoyed a pistacio crusted pork chop at a local restaurant and it was fabulous. The sauce made the dish and it was a Cabernet wine reduction sauce. I've tried to duplicate it by reducing cabernet but the result was horrible. Maybe it had some sugar or balsamic vinegar in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
