ISO: Chocolate fudge icing

I am trying to locate a recipe for a chocolate icing that my grandmother made for her homemade cakes. It was sweet but not a milk chocolate. It got hard on the outside of the cake after she poured it over. She would put it in between layers and it remained moist. My grandmother passed away and we've never been able to find her old recipe book. I would really like to make this for my dad if someone knows or has ever made recipe like this.
